I might have an old 20" screen at work that may have a vga input - so I'll try that on Monday. Set the 'Host Name', 'Method', IP address, Network mask, gateway. In the 'System Information and settings' panel, click the right arrow of BMC IP address or click 'BMC Configuration' 'Network' on the left navigation panel. Inserted a Ubuntu server USB to internal and external ports, but no picture on the screen ever, same with the bootable firmware update usb I created with the IBM tool. Connect to the Lenovo XClarity Controller by using the web browser. I cleared the CMOS by pulling the battery. I tried the jumper on the board for the backup IMM profile but it seems corrupted or invalid in some way as even after 1h+ the IMM status led stays in the fast blinking mode (default IMM profile works fine and switches to 'breathing' blinking after some minutes). I downloaded the cli tool (asu64) but no luck there either due to lack of credentials (same with ssh). So I don't know if I even can access the bios to reset the IMM. Keyboard leds can't be toggled (num/caps lock).

I conected the a spare screen through a vga to hdmi adapter to the server but don't get anything out of it (screen stays blank). When I access the IP I am presented with the IMM login page but I don't know username and password (default didn't work).

I found the IMM IP and set up a separate network around it. As far as I can tell it's been secured very well and after countless hours of trying and reading huge documents I'm at my wits end (bar one more thing I'll try on Monday)Ĭurrent situation: IBM x3650 M3 in working condition (so much I could tell) with the IMM unit thingy, no disks. Unfortunately it wasn't reset before I got it and I can't get any info from the previous owner. I got my hands on a free IBM x3650 M3 (my very first experience with IBM servers).
